At What Age Should Kids Be Allowed to Stay Home Alone?
There isn’t one “right” age for every child to stay home alone. Some children are responsible and confident at a younger age, while others may need more time before they’re ready.
Parents also have to consider factors like how long a child would be alone, whether younger siblings are involved, the safety of the neighbourhood, and whether the child knows what to do in an emergency.
So we’re asking Canadian parents:
At what age should children be allowed to stay home alone?
Cast your vote and see how your opinion compares with other families across Canada. We’ll share the results in a future article exploring how parents are approaching this important milestone.
